OCTAVE TECHNOLOGY UNVEILS
"MAINTAIN" College Park, MD - December 17, 2003 - Octave Technology (www.octavetech.com) today announced the launch of MAINTAIN, a laptop and pc-based application that helps service and field engineers improve maintenance procedures and the management of equipment-related data. Octave Technology, known as an innovator in the development of applications that use Auto-ID technologies (contact memory, bar codes, RFID), has a practice focused solely on improving the way organizations manage their expensive and critical equipment. Built for companies in the energy and manufacturing industries, as well as data center, logistics and facility management organizations, MAINTAIN supports the service and repair process, automates the data collection procedure, and provides service engineers with access to the most current equipment maintenance information while physically standing in front of the equipment they are servicing. "Equipment manufacturers spend millions of dollars differentiating their products from the competition, but commonly, the advantages gained through product improvements are lost when services are not provided in a timely manner. In addition, manufacturers, service organizations and field engineers waste enormous amounts of time seeking accurate maintenance histories, equipment configurations and safety information. This is costing the OEM [Original Equipment Manufacturer] and the customer thousands of dollars per year on each piece of equipment", states Richard Stack, Octave’s Vice President of Commercial Business Solutions. "MAINTAIN is built to minimize service-related costs and human errors." MAINTAIN is a Windows-based file manager that permits interaction with strategically placed contact memory buttons (small, brass "buttons" with memory chips sealed inside), which store key documentation on the equipment, including:
MAINTIAN uses 8 Mb memory buttons and provides manufacturers and service organizations with a key differentiator and tool for competing in an over-crowded services and equipment marketplace. To date, Octave has received orders from two large OEMs, and is planning an announcement of eight additional OEM partnerships by the end of Q2 2004. Availability
