Technology Partners with Power Cabling Corporation College Park, MD - September 8, 2003 - Octave Technology, Inc., a new entrant into the growing automatic identification industry, announced today a partnership with Power Cabling Corp., a subsidiary of Electri-Cord, Inc. and leading power cable manufacturer based in Westfield, PA. Octave Technology will partner with PCC to develop cable management systems for companies who demand real-time, accurate information about their power cables, panel schedules and electric service lines. Capitalizing on contact memory technology and handheld devices, intelligent cable management systems can aid in data center and power distribution management. The first cable management product developed from the partnership is C/Smart, a system that merges critical information about the Power Distribution Unit (PDU), its' cables and the assets that are powered by each. The data center electric service line can be tracked and maintained through the simple placement and touch of a contact memory tag and, the C/Smart system. The C/Smart system made its debut at the AFCOM 2003 trade show in Las Vegas earlier this year. C/Smart's base system helps manage cable installations, panel schedule generation and data center moves and will quickly allow facilities managers and asset owners to understand the power relationships and requirements between/of their assets. Contact memory technology and other automatic identification technologies are utilized for asset maintenance and tracking, allowing all information relevant to an asset to be stored physically ON the asset. This eliminates many issues and common errors that arise from manual data entry. "PCC is demonstrating, once again, their desire to be an innovator and the leader in their space. Organizations purchasing power cables from PCC will have the option of purchasing their cables with Octave Technology's solution "attached", states Richard Stack, Octave Technology's Vice President of Commercial Business Solutions. "The cables that companies purchase from PCC are "smarter" than cables they can purchase anywhere else, and the data that resides on the tags which are attached to the cables can be modified and changed as situations and needs change." "Octave Technology's solutions will allow our customers to improve their cable purchasing and usage procedures and their power distribution, as well as create accurate panel schedules for PDU monitoring and management", says Mitch Samuels, the owner and President of PCC and Electri-Cord. The Octave Technology and PCC partnership will extend the capabilities of both firms, allowing Octave Technology to work with PCC customers, while giving PCC a clear advantage over other cable manufacturers.
