Octave Technology Delivers Asset Maintenance Software
Cable and power management system built for Power Cabling Corp. first of many to utilize contact memory technology

College Park, MD - November 6, 2003 - Octave Technology (www.octavetech.com) today announced the release of C|Smart 1.14, its' first fully functional system to utilize contact memory technology and proprietary mobile software.

The deal, Octave's largest since its founding earlier this year, is valued between $50,000 - $100,000 depending on various levels of revenue and net income from the sale of C|Smart by PCC.

"PCC is a customer and a partner and this unique arrangement met both parties' requirements, and will allow each of us to expand capabilities and share opportunities", stated Rick Morani, Octave Technology's Senior Vice President.

C|Smart is a power cable management system built for facility and data center managers who need to direct cable installations, manage power cable distribution, and generate accurate panel schedules. C|Smart eliminates many issues and common errors that arise from manual data entry and ensures compliance with standards established and enforced by the National Electric Code. The base system is built for use with the iPAQ handheld PC and capitalizes on contact memory - small, rugged brass "buttons" with memory chips sealed inside. Data center and facility personnel will have immediate access to reliable cable and panel data while on the data center floor and at their desktop.

"While working with PCC to build C|Smart we developed a framework for rapid application development that incorporates automatic identification technologies (contact memory, bar-codes, RFID) and both, hand-held and desktop PCs", said Richard Stack, Octave Technology's Vice President of Commercial Business Solutions. "This will allow us to work with asset owners, professional services and maintenance organizations and even, other software companies and quickly generate applications and systems that utilize AutoID and mobile technologies".

Octave Technology is currently exploring various AutoID technologies and is developing applications for equipment commissioning, preventive maintenance and logistics management.

Contact memory technology and other automatic identification technologies are utilized to store a variety of data and information. Four primary benefits of contact memory include:

· Reduced asset maintenance costs
· Improved quality of asset maintenance data
· Better & more timely decision making
· Maximized IT investments
