Alliance between Octave Technology Inc. and
Active Wireless Systems to Investigate
Uses of Active and Passive RFID
Technology College Park, MD - July 18, 2004 - Octave Technology Inc. (www.octavetech.com) today announced that it has entered into an alliance with Colorado based Active Wireless Systems to help customers explore and optimize the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Octave Technology and AWS have committed to specifically investigating the use of passive and active RFID tags and readers that can operate in a limitless number of environments. "Industries and companies worldwide have acknowledged the potential impact of RFID on the supply chain. We see similar potential for RFID use, and specifically active RFID tag-use, in many other areas including industrial asset maintenance and monitoring and fleet management", stated Richard Stack, an Octave founder and the company’s President. "Active Wireless' active tag expertise and even their own hardware compliment our software development capabilities and R&D efforts." This alliance officially launches a business relationship between the two companies. Under the agreement, the companies will field combined teams with the latest RFID and Auto-ID tools to research, develop, market, and deliver solutions globally. "We view Octave’s capabilities as the link enabling us to offer customers a completely integrated tracking solution", says Tony Corrado, Active Wireless’ founder and president. Octave Technology and Active Wireless are currently engaged on their second external client engagement, studying the availability of RFID reader chipsets. The first project, which researched the usefulness of active RFID tags that operate at 433.92 MHz and their potential applications, was deemed a tremendous success. To date, the client has not been disclosed.
