Rick Morani, President
Rick Morani is a majority investor and co-founder of Octave Technology and has held a Director position since the company was founded in May 2003. Elected president in early 2005, Mr. Morani will continue to manage and lead the company’s operations, finances and technology direction, capitalizing on over twenty years of business consulting, systems development and information technology management experience. Mr. Morani is no novice to entrepreneurial ventures and running a business, as he is also the founder and owner of HMG Technologies, Inc., a Mid-Atlantic technology consultancy in operation since 1997. Mr. Morani will be working with the Octave Technology team, partner firms and customers to continue to accelerate plans for growth and establishing Octave’s market position.

Prior to 1997, Mr. Morani was the Director of Business Solutions and Systems at Barton Cotton, Inc., a national full service direct marketing company, with printing, mail processing and order fulfillment operations. Mr. Morani was a lead member of the executive team and was responsible for company-wide information technology and the subsequent automation and integration within business operations. His tenure included a three-year period of 30 percent annual growth as the company doubled in size.

Mr. Morani began his career with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in the Washington, D.C. office. During his nine year career and as a Senior Manager, he held leadership roles in numerous client engagements within the Systems Integration & Utilities Industry Practice areas with clients such as Baltimore Gas & Electric, Atlanta Gas Light, Duke Power, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Giant Food.

Mr. Morani obtained his Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Florida and has a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from McDaniel College.

Robert D'Antonio, Ph.D., Executive Vice President
Dr. D’Antonio joins Octave Technology as an EVP to help drive the corporate strategies and tactical operations.  Dr. D’Antonio has over 25 years of experience in business consulting, development and integrated systems with business management in numerous industries including power generation, healthcare and communications.

Prior to joining Octave, Dr. D’Antonio has been the CEO of Circadian Management Corporation, a knowledge management professional services firm.  During that same time he has founded the first Independent Practice Association (IPA) in the state of Maryland where he served as President for over three years, launched a private MRI center where he directed all operations, and managed a Medicaid MCO as Vice President.

Dr. D’Antonio holds a Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Zoology from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Jeff Thorn, Director of Product Development
Jeff brings a unique combination of technology and business acumen to Octave Technology Inc., defining the company's product architecture and future product direction. Jeff has been fundamental to Octave's core products to date, overseeing application design and development, product releases and customer support. Jeff is currently leading the architecture of Octave's Wireless Sensor Network and Auto-ID middleware platforms.

Before joining Octave in 2003, Jeff was a Senior Software Architect with Aether Systems in Owings Mills, MD where he was a lead engineer responsible for the design and development of mobile/wireless enterprise applications.

Prior to Aether, Jeff was responsible for the software development lifecycle of reusable satellite command, control, and communications software at Honeywell International, developing solutions for the U.S. Navy and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Jeff has also served as a graduate level teaching assistant at Johns Hopkins' Applied Physics Laboratory in the field of Algorithm Design and Analysis.

Jeff received his M.S. in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Lehigh University.

Chris Parker, Vice President of Business Development
Chris joins the Octave Technology management team with more than  10 years of sales and business development experience. Chris is responsible for implementing Octave’s overall sales and marketing strategy. His background in solution selling and creating strategic alliances will help set the company's direction and focus to achieve penetration and growth in several vertical markets.

Before joining Octave, Chris was the Channel Manager for the Mobile Office Solutions Division of Telecommunications Systems, Inc in Annapolis, MD where he was responsible for designing and implementing a national channel sales program for an offering of enterprise mobile/wireless solutions. In addition, Chris was in charge of evaluating new technology and establishing strategic partnerships with various industry leading firms.

Prior to TCS, Chris was the Sales Manager for the Enterprise Mobility Solutions group with Aether Systems in Owings Mills, MD. Chris was responsible for a leading a national sales force in selling mobile/wireless enterprise applications to Fortune 1000 companies.

Chris received his B.S. in Business Administration from Old Dominion University with a concentration in Economics and Management.
